He Who Perseveres To Be, Will Be

December 7, 2007

by Kingson Suryaatmaja

On September 20, 2007, Forbes Magazine released the latest list of the richest people in the world. At the very top of the list was unchanged, Bill Gates (Microsoft Corp.) who led the list for the 14th straight years, this time with a net worth estimated at $59 billion.
In the top 100 of the list, there were 5 names who are under 40 years of age, i.e: Sergey Brin (33), Larry Page (34), Oleg Deripaska (39), Pierre Omidyar (39), and Kumar Birla (39). Sergey Brin and Larry Page are the founders of Google.com. Oleg Deripaska is the chairman of Russian aluminium industry company. Pierre Omidyar is the founder of Ebay auction site. And Kumar Birla is the chairman of several blue chip companies in India. Their net worth is estimated between $8 billion up to $16,6 billion. And as I notice, Bill Gates was in his 37 when he first enlisted in the first rank at Forbes.
We are living in a time where everything can be achieved at a speed that was unimaginable 20 years ago. As stated in www.forbes.com, “A billion dollars just doesn’t go as far as it used to. For the first time, it takes more than $1 billion earn a spot on Forbes magazine’s list of the 400 richest Americans. The minimum net worth for inclusion in this year’s rankings was $1.3 billion, up $300 million from last year.”
It would be nice if yours and my name was enlisted in Forbes in the next several years, don’t you agree? Everyone would love to have a large amount of money, with time and freedom to share with people we love, and doing things we love to do without worrying about anything anymore. Hmm… how nice will it be …? Hey… wake up! :-)

Me Too – Heritage From Our Childhood

by Hans Bool

"Listen to children and you will learn," you will probably agree with me. Children are creative, unbiased, sincere, playful, competitive, enchanting but also demanding and okay you probably know… But there is one habit that they do not loose for the rest of their lives. And this habit could become quite an issue later on.
It starts when they receive a gift, and the next day, they compare this gift at school with their classmates. "He that is nice, I want this also," is what you hear then. And the next time the kid already knows what he or she wants in advance; "THAT!"

Short Sleeves Insights - Here’s To The End!

by Hal Manogue

"The world as we know it is coming to an end. The world as the center of the universe, the world divided from the heavens, the world bound by horizons in which love is reserved for the members of the in group: that is the world that is passing away. The Apocalypse does not point to a fiery Armageddon but to the fact that our ignorance and our complacency are coming to an end." Joseph Campbell was born in White Plains New York in 1904. His life was dedicated to learning and teaching. He was a professor at Sarah Lawrence College for 38 years. He studied Native American history, Medieval literature earning a M.A. in 1927, and went on to become a expert in mythology. George Lucas was influenced by his work and he was a resource for Lucas while Star Wars was being produced. He wrote several books, and was interviewed by Bill Moyers on a PBS special. He certainly understood how we are moving through time, based on what he had studied about the past.
Joseph said the world as we know it is coming to an end. I certainly can relate to that. I think we all can. If nothing else, computers are reshaping our worldwide view, and if they continue developing at the current rate, by 2020 a personal computer will have more power and speed than all the computers in Silicon Valley in 1998. And that is just the tip of the change. The information revolution is outpacing the industrial and agricultural revolutions, which means that human evolution is moving even faster.

The Secret - He Hurt My Parents And I Loved It

by Vish Writer

The old man listened to the rose patiently…
"I have a solution for you……" he calmly said..
"Do you know of anyone who comes to the garden everyday and who really loves you" asked the old man to the rose.
There was a young couple who used to visit the garden everyday and spent hours chatting near this rose. They loved this rose so much that they silently carassed and kissed it…. It was against the rules of the garden but they were so much attracted by its beauty that they could not resist….
"Please only this couple from today. Do not think of anyone else. Shower so much attraction and love to this couple as if that was your only purpose of existence in this world…. Do that for two weeks and then i will see you ….." said the old man to the rose..
The rose dutifully followed the old man’s advice.. Everyday it would think of different ways to please this couple. The rose was now not bothered about attracting other people. It would wake up everyday with the only intention of pleasing this couple. This was its only goal in life.. Four weeks passed by and the old man returned…
"How are you feeling now" asked the old man to the pretty rose.
The rose looked more beautiful than ever. It was relaxed, composed and appeared more colourful. It seemed happy pleasing only one couple rather than the whole world…
Being Happy becomes so easy if you try to please only one person in this world…. It is called Focused Happiness..
"I have both good and bad news for you today" said the old man
"First the bad news. The young couple who loved you so much have moved to another city. They would not be visiting this garden anymore. "

Green And Blue Make Turquoise!

by Hal Manogue

"There is no greater illusion than fear, no greater wrong than preparing to defend yourself, no greater misfortune than having an enemy. Whoever can see through all fear will always be safe." The immortal words of Lao-tzu, who wrote the Tao Te Ching, which means the book of the way, perfectly captures our need for change.
No one is really sure when he was born, but he is said to be older than Confucius, who was born in 551 B.C. We have lost the idea of things being accomplished without fearing them. Global warming is a prime example. The greening of the world is a noble endeavor, something that requires love not fear, to incorporate.
The red flag is flying around the world, our climate is changing, but what we are not noticing is that we are changing. Our collective thoughts are changing, and the matter we create through our thoughts is shaping our world. At any given moment we can change our thoughts and change what we experience in our world, including how we perceive the effect of global warming on our lives. If I fear it, that is what I will manifest, and all the negativity that is attached to it. If I love it, I will bring all that is manifested with Love. My choice, how I want to feel about this issue, will be my reality. Which thought feels better?

Greatness Is!

by Tim Connor

One of my heroes the late Arthur Ashe was quoted having said the following: “True greatness is – start where you are, do what you can and use what you have.” It is unfortunate that many people have to have something else in place to begin changing the quality of their life or future.
Before they can begin they need:
-more education
-more wisdom
-more time
-less adversity
-more support
-more money
-fewer problems
You name it they have to have it. Their excuse for a lack of performance, action, success or changing anything is almost always outside of them rather than inside them. I love this quote because it puts all of life in a wonderful perspective. All of us are getting older, hopefully wiser, better in some way and our future is an unknown mystery that unfolds one day at a time. All of us can change the quality of our life in the future if we will:

Gratitude Creates Miracles

by Sjef Van De Laak

The more grateful we are, the more we will receive from Life.
Gratitude increases our receptivity to allow abundance.
According to the Law of Attraction every thought on which we instinctively focus during our live will be intensified. It accumulates and is taking continually more shape as long as we keep our focus on this thought.
Gratitude is the concentration on the fullness and abundance of life, it is like estimating the value of what we received and what we became during our life.
A grateful attitude is a laudation to the Source in all its aspects and qualities.
Every time we feel gratitude, we live with a feeling of abundance, instead of a feeling of shortage and we feel ourselves fulfilled from within.
There is nothing more healing and effective as to practice a grateful attitude!
It is the most powerful therapy which exists besides that it is always freely to our possession, every moment of life.
Gratitude is the shortest road that leads to our Source.
The Secret of Divinity, whether it is love, joy, knowledge, vitality or material things, lies in the Unification of the Source with the Infinite Resources and an absolute Knowing that everything will be thrown into our lap as long as we claim it in advance with gratitude.

Goals And Motivation A Simple Formula

by Tim Connor

Motivation is one of the most personal issues there is for salespeople. Research has concluded that everyone has the potential for great motivation, but not everyone is willing to pay the motivational price to achieve whatever their dreams, desires or hopes are. A critical question that many people never really ask themselves is: what motivates me? What are some of the traditional motivators:
1. Money.
2. Security.
3. Fame.
4. Power.
5. Prestige.
6. Ego gratification
7. Winning.
8. Being the best.
9. Doing your best.
10. Your family.
11. Your future.
12. Your past.
13. Not losing.
14. Personal satisfaction.
15. Approval of others.
16. To prove a point.
17. To get even.
18. To feel worthwhile.
19. To impress others.
20. To control others or situations.

Goal Buddy Network System - Business Motivation

by Tammy Embrich

This has really been an inspiration to me…The Goal Buddy Network System. An online friend of mine introduced it on her forum. It has motivated me into setting realistic goals for myself in my online business and sticking with them. And it can do the same for you.
I’ll share the link with you at the bottom of this article.
How To Participate
1) Create your own thread and name it (your name’s) Goals.
2) Include in your Goal Buddy Network thread what your goals are for the day, week, or month and how you will go about reaching your goals. Keep everyone updated in your thread how you are progressing. This in itself, is a real incentive for reaching your goals.
3) Cheer each other on in the other members’ goal threads. Help keep them motivated. You can check in daily or weekly, whichever works best for your schedule.
This can also help keep you organized with your business. Share the goals that are most important to you. Make them realistic, don’t over-burden yourself by setting unrealistic goals. This will only result in failure.

Getting Older: A State Of Mind Or A State Of Body?

by Craig Harper

A few years ago I turned forty - a scary time for the supreme, alpha male warrior.
I’m not sure, but I reckon there’s some correlation between decreasing testosterone levels and increased neurosis and insecurity in blokes.
Not me, of course…but I’ve heard it happens to some men.
"Darl, feel how big my biceps are."
Tragic.
Embarrassing.
There’s a thesis for some Phd. student right there.
I don’t know why, but I never pictured myself being so ‘old’. Not that I envisaged some untimely early death or anything, but nothing prepared me mentally or emotionally for the onset of crows feet or for the amazing ability a forty year-old body has to gain body-fat in a matter of hours (or so it seemed). I reckon there should be a government mandate that we all undertake some type of preparatory course in our thirties to help us negotiate our fifth decade on earth (actually forty one is the start of our fifth decade but you get my point).
For over twenty years I had been helping older people get in shape and then overnight, I was one (in my mind at least). Just as I was about to immerse myself into a massive depression and wallow in my own pathetic self pity, I vaguely recalled a lecture from University (one of the four classes I attended). I remembered that there are different types of age; chronological age (how many years we’ve been on the planet), emotional age (I’m nearly sixteen now) and physiological, or biological age. In order to estimate our biological age people in white coats put us through some physical testing (fitness, strength, blood pressure, body-fat, flexibility and a few others) and then they compare our results to scientific ‘norms’ (how other people have scored). Then they tell us how ‘old’ our body is. If you’re lucky they’ll say something like, "well Sally, even though you’ve been around for thirty eight years, you have the body of a nineteen year-old" (or if you’ve punished yourself, possibly the other way around).
